Last year we went to an orchard and picked apples. Then we made apple sauce, apple pie, dried apples and of course ate them.
This year we just made apple sauce and the starter for apple cobbler. We picked 427 pounds of apples. I figured out that about 125 pounds gives you around 20 quarts of apple sauce. This is with the 16 pounds of waste included. Man oh man that is a lot of work. I heard so many times, 'You guys are crazy. You are never going to go through the 427 pounds of apples that you picked. Blah blah blah.... but we did it! Oh yeah. I sure hope you are not reading this blog and you were one of the ones telling me this. Just kidding.
I didn't think that we were going to be able to do it either. I thought things were going to be too crazy, but we survived. We beat the odds and we feel all the better for doing it too.
Me and Arlee... and Lydia. See the little growth on my back? Yep that is Lydia- she was a real trooper.
Halloween Party @ church
Don't the kids look so cute?
This little girl loved that icing. Can't you tell?
Trunk or Treat!
FIELD TRIP!!!
We went to the Barret's Farm. There was a little hay maze and a pumpkin patch. The kids seemed to enjoy it.
Lydia's new thing is blowing kisses. That is what she is doing here.
Not sure why these are out of order- sorry. Arlee and her friend at the Ward Halloween Party
After finding the perfect pumpkin we headed home. A couple days later we waited for Hans to get off so we could paint pumpkins on Halloween (only time he was off early enough).
Arlee loved making silly faces at me while I was trying to get her to say cheese... Love her to pieces.
Muah!!!!!
Arlee loved painting
Arlee figured out by mixing all the colors she could have a black pumpkin. This was pretty amusing for her.
Notice all the different colors in each dot of paint?
Maybe next year this will be fun for her... As long as she had treats she was happy sitting there.
Since moving here we have kind of been adopted into a family or two. One family invites us all the time to things. Most of the time we go. We really enjoy them and the invites as well. We did Halloween with their family. It started out at their brother's house. We ate dinner- which had the best enchiladas I have ever had! Then we set off trick or treating.
The Saucing continues...
I have to say that we are so glad to be done for this year. Now it is just time to move into our new house. When that is going to be? We have no idea, but hopefully this month- otherwise we will be homeless.
