Then, I called my mom and later Skyped her. Watched her open the present that my little brother and I got for her. Watched her cry once she opened the present. This year has already been a little rough on my parents. So it was the perfect gift for them this year.
It is a 12X12 canvas with vinyl lettering and a picture of them sitting on a park bench laughing at who knows what. They didn't see me taking this picture. It was perfect!
Hans' mom is going to be coming up here in June so we will be giving her the present then. It is pretty heavy and would have cost a fortune to ship it.
Hans and the girls got me a sewing machine. I need to set it up still. If someone wants to come teach me how to use it I would be so grateful. Haha otherwise I think I can figure it out. I have wanted one for a while now. Nothing is holding me back. I can accomplish all the things on my Pinterest board now. I am pretty excited!
I cleaned up the house with Hans. We planned a BBQ and got together with friends that do not have family around. It was a huge success and both the kids and adults had a lot of fun playing and mingling. We even played some rhubarb tag. (the person that is it has the rhubarb. Otherwise you play like normal tag.) I developed this since the kids were fighting over the two pink balls that we had.
We lost Lydia during the BBQ. We couldn't find her anywhere. Hans went looking for her and with no luck came back outside and told me he needed help. The door to the house had been open throughout the night and we saw her go in there, but weren't worried about her disappearing. Well we were wrong. She was pretty tired so when we (Hans, me and two girlfriends) were looking for her I didn't think she would answer us. Plus she is kind of quiet while she plays. Arlee was the same way. Anyway, after about two minutes we found her. The moms and I were starting to panic too. The garage door was left open so she got into the garage and was just hanging out in there. I am so glad I don't have anything low that could hurt her out there. She gave us a fright and we are so glad that she is safe.
It continued to be a great Mother's Day. Hans made Key Lime Pie from scratch with a graham cracker crust. It is my favorite pie! Delicious. A friend of ours asked me where I found him. "Obviously, not at a gym." I replied. "What are you trying to say Chels?" she asked "Hahahhahahahahaha" laughter from us all. Hans is a great baker. I love a guy that can cook, but bake as well. He has made some really good stuff for us over the years.
I love these little girls so much! (These were taken awhile ago)
Hans got a tent early for Father's Day because Arlee is not very good at keeping secrets. You have been warned!
They have a lot of fun together. Can you tell?
Tickle time!
I promise we put her in bed. When she gets restless she gets up and falls asleep in weird places. Like her door way for instance.
Hans and I have been pretty busy with getting the house ready for the summer and gardening season that I just had to get out of the house and do something on Saturday. We drove up White Pass and had a picnic at Clear Creek Falls. I captured a few good ones of Lydia, but Arlee was being a four year old.
Until this one when she finally smiled. This is the one time, I think, that Arlee has been the difficult one to get a decent picture from. Lydia on the other hand was surprisingly attentive.
Lydia enjoyed pointing at the water and telling us all about it.
After our picnic we drove a little farther and went to a view point of Mount Rainier. We seem to be pretty lucky on going on good days. The peak was completely visible.
Happy Mother's Day!
Love,
Hansel, Chels, Arlee Bug and Lydia Miss Miss
