Friends

We were able to see a few friends while in Salt Lake.
We were supposed to go to the Smith's for dinner, but Arlee's appointment ran long. They met us at Leatherbys instead for dinner. Later we were joined by the Bohmans who were originally meeting us there for ice cream. This place is so good, but mainly the ice cream. After dinner and ice cream we went and fed the ducks. The kids really liked this part.
Hans took this picture of all of us from across the pond. We weren't posing if you couldn't tell. Haha!

We missed the Mushrush family. We were supposed to go to a birthday party at their house, but then Arlee broke her leg and threw up so we missed them. They were missed too.

Zoo or Is she broken?

As we were getting ready to go to the zoo. My niece asked me if it was okay that she and Arlee went and jumped on the tramp if my mom watched. I thought it might not be a good idea, because we were leaving soon and I just did their hair. I still said yes, but I should have said no and not messed up their hair. Not even 5 minutes after they went outside I hear crying from Arlee. My mom was out there so I continued getting ready. I went to ask my mom a question only to find Arlee and Lydia and Kasiah upset. My mom had Arlee and Lydia in her arms carrying them away from the tramp and back inside. I met them at the door.
My mom said that Arlee got stepped on by Kasiah. Well that just seemed a little dumb for her to be crying about. I took Arlee and tried to make her stand up. Well she started screaming and begging me to pick her up. She wasn't going to let her feet down so I picked her up. I was trying to talk to her for a while, but with no real improvement I was getting a little worried something was wrong. I didn't want to take her to the zoo acting like she was either.
Talking to Hans and my mom we decided that we should probably take her into the doctor and know for certain that there wasn't anything to worry about. Whether it be a sprain or nothing we would know. My mom kept Lydia and Hans and I took Arlee to Insta- Care.
We got there and Arlee still hasn't calmed down and by this point I am feeling horrible that I kept saying to her stop crying. Stop being a baby. Arlee she just stepped on you. Are you sure you are really hurt?
*Just a note. I am not really mean I just wanted her to shake it off or something.  Arlee's friend sprained her ankle at playgroup and it seems like ever since Arlee has been pretty dramatic about falling, tripping, bumping her head, etc. Things that didn't use to make as much of an impact on her.)
Well after about and hour wait we were in the room. The nurse was great! She was even able to take her blood pressure, which isn't usually easy with her. Then she took us to the X-ray area.
Completely different child and rightfully so, the x-ray tech was a complete idiot! I hate to say it, but he was. We walked in and I put Arlee on the table and she is screaming.
I calm her down by saying, "I am going to be right here with you."
Then the guy says, "okay we are going to have dad robe up and mom you can wait outside. She will be better with out you here."
"Probably not, but whatever." I was so mad! I understand that they didn't want me in there since I could be pregnant, but I am not.
I am walking out almost in tears, because Arlee is in there screaming and saying, "I want my mom! Leave me alone, don't touch it, etc."
I sat next to a lady and she said, "He just kicked you out?"
"Yeah, he did."
"What a jerk."
"I am sure he will be right back out here to tell me he needs me."

Then he comes out and the lady and I looked at each other with the I told you so look.
He then explains to me, "Now you are going to hear her screaming. It isn't because it hurts it is because she is scared. You can go sit back down. I just wanted you to know that."

By this point I am tearing up and I just want to go and grab her and get out. She is still screaming and even more when he went in to the room again.

He came back out and said, "Okay, mom we need you in here. I guess it is going to be better with you in here."

They put the robe on me and he starts explaining how to hold her leg while demonstrating on her. Meanwhile, Arlee is still fighting him off with all her strength. THAT'S MY GIRL! He deserved it.

Once he stopped touching her leg and moving it all over the place while she is screaming. I was able to grab it and boom boom done. It is over! Arlee is exhausted.

"By the way she is acting I bet it is broken, but I will let the doctor look at these and then he can tell you."
Hans mentioned to me that he just wanted to reach across the table and punch the guy out because of the way he was man-handling her.
I have to admit that surprised me a little. It takes a lot to make Hans mad and even that mad... I haven't seen it ever.
We waited for the doctor and sure enough it was broken. She had a right not to want to stand on it, move or be touched. She was hurting. I couldn't believe it! I was going through everything in my head. 'She broke yet another limb. This is crazy. No way this could be happening to her again. She just got out of a cast in Feb. for her arm! What am I going to do?'
Then the splinting, oh the splinting....
Much like the x-rays she was putting up a fight. These poor nurses. This was the nurse that saw us before and a student nurse helping her. Because of her experience with the x-ray tech she didn't want anyone near her leg.  They finally got her splint on. They gave her an otter pop which helped her relax a little. We were clear to take her home. Finally! As we were walking out into the waiting room I lost it. Tears were coming down my cheeks and I was completely frustrated! My poor baby!!!!!!!!!
Picked up her prescription and headed back to my moms to get Lydia. We still hadn't seen Hans' side yet. They were supposed to come to the zoo with us, but that got put on hold.
We went to Hans' parents completely exhausted from the days events. It wasn't too relaxing for Arlee either. She was in pain, but relieved to see her other grandma, aunts, cousins, grandpa and uncle.
We got back to my parent's and Arlee played with some toys. She was happy to have something to do.

Wearing Hans' shirt since we brought all tight fitting pj's and playing with toys that I played with growing up. My mom knew just how to make her happy on a long day. A lot of babies and girly things.

Saturday came and we went to Sam Hawk. It is a Korean restaurant and it was really good. My sister, Kali has been talking about it forever, but we haven't gone until then. Man we were missing out.

Sunday we celebrated my birthday and had Hans' family come over to my parent's for sloppy joes. After we played games outside and enjoyed the day together.

An example of a tramp... Hans and I don't think that we will ever be getting one. My dad was ready to get rid of it after Arlee's leg. My mom wouldn't let him though.

More to come of our trip. More exciting things too.

Happy Birthday to ME!!!

Another year has past and that means that I am once again, a year older! I am  now 25 years old!!!

My birthday was on a Friday this year and that meant it was date night. We didn't have to pay for a sitter and I could rest assured my kids were having fun playing with their friends.
Hans and I went to dinner at the TAJ. It is an Indian restaurant.
Hans was being a goofball! He hurt his thumb... doors are not kind when your finger is found a little bit inside the car. This happened a while ago, but it is now looking colorful.
I am giggling and he caught me in the act. HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!
 There's the birthday girl!
 More silly pictures

AH at last... FOOD! We were so hungry, which completely explains the earlier pictures. Doesn't it?

Naan, butter chicken, chicken curry and some rice.

After dinner we got some frozen yogurt at our favorite "ice cream place" in town.
This is not staged, he does look that good.
And then there is me... I am silly and now old!

Vantage with the Moons

We were invited to so up the the "lake", being the Columbia River called, Vantage!
Hans had already made plans to go fly fishing with a couple of his friends so I went up with the girls by myself. Which with this family you don't feel by yourself at all. They are so welcoming and helpful with the girls.
After getting Arlee lathered up I told her to go and play in the sand. Next thing I know people are yelling, "someone is in the water, help them". I looked up to find my friend's sister running in and grabbing a little girl out of the water, who was doing a pretty good job keeping her head above. Well, that little girl was Arlee. She lost the PINK shovel and went in to get it. Well she couldn't reach. Thankful that someone noticed her and said something. Seriously! I wanted to leave right then and there. I was worried it might happen again.
I talked with Arlee and I told her she wasn't to go in the water with out me looking and helping her. We put her life jacket on and sent her to play in the sand again. This time I was watching her while I was lathering up Lydia. DUMB MOM moment right there!
After us all Arlee didn't go in the water with out me or another adult. The rest of the day was pretty relaxing and pleasant.
Seriously cannot get enough of her little expressions!

Arlee and her friend PLAYING IN THE SAND!
Lydia finally tuckered out and took a nap.
I was able to go on the tube during this time and had a blast! Arlee was also able to go on the tube and loved it. She wanted to go again and again.

Vantage was a lot of fun and one of my favorite places in Washington. Oh yeah, and it is only an hour away!

The 4th of July!

Our ward did a breakfast the morning for the 4th. Hans went and helped cook with the Elders Quorum and I met him there. It was an early morning, but we made it, bright and early. The girls were ready to go and we were hungry. The food didn't disappoint either.

After that I had to get some shots with the girls looking so cute wearing patriotic red.
 Arlee saying: "It's okay Whitty-ya" ----^

Arlee likes to relax on Lydia. she doesn't mind either. I am sure that shoulder will come in handy once the girls get older. A shoulder to lean on or cry on.
This is how Arlee talks with Lydia. -----^

Oh yes... The twirl and spin as I am trying to get a cute picture of her little face. It is still a cute picture of her in her little moment of princess-ness!

After torturing them with pictures we headed to our friend's brother's house for a BBQ.
Arlee was a bit hesitant with the sparklers at first.
Hans went over and helped her have fun with them. I don't remember having any reservations about them as a child.
 Our friend's mom and daughter.
Arlee and her little princess companion!
Once a princess, always a princess.
Beautiful sunset before the fireworks.

Oh and Lydia hated the fireworks!

EASTER PICTURES!!!

Easter was great for us. It was our first Easter in Washington and it went pretty well. The Saturday before the girls and I went to the Primary Easter Activity. I was in charge of the cookie decorating station. It worked out pretty well until Lydia woke up and wanted to be held. Arlee took her time decorating her cookie. I didn't mind since I was still trying to figure out how everything was going to work once she was finished.
Hans was working that day and wasn't available to help me. Luckily, I have some friends in the ward that offered to help me with Arlee. While Arlee was at a different station Lydia had a blow out and people needed help with cookies still. Thankfully the rush was pretty much over when I discovered Lydia's blow out. As I was changing her diaper and clothes they announced it was time for egg hunting. So I hurried and got Lydia cleaned up and in the backpack all bundled up so we could go out with Arlee.
Arlee went out already with some friends and started hunting. She was so excited and thrilled to be out and about. I tried getting a couple of pictures, but Lydia wasn't having it. The wind was hitting her right in the face no matter what I did. Then the Easter Bunny came. Arlee wasn't having it! It scared her so bad. So no picture of the Easter Bunny with Arlee. The Easter Bunny started walking around to each of the kids and it was fine as long as it was about 20 feet from Arlee. She scared enough that she wouldn't even put her back to it far away so I could get him in the picture. Oh well, maybe sometime she will grow out of it.
We went inside and started cleaning up. While we were cleaning up the Easter Bunny came inside and caught Arlee off guard and she started screaming! Man, this was way more than I anticipated. Arlee has never liked Santa, but I thought maybe she would be okay with the Easter Bunny since she hasn't seen them before, NOPE! It is okay though. I did feel bad for her. I am pretty sure I was the same way- so I can't say much.

Pictures of The Girls on Easter Sunday

This picture reminds me a lot of an expression that Hans makes.

Arlee making kissing sounds while Lydia was a little fussy
Holding her hand so she can be happy.

 I just love her hair.
AHHHHH....

We hope you all had a wonderful EASTER.

Love,
The Hoge Family
